Gallery and Studio
magazine said:

"Her pieces in bronze, Carrara marble, and alabaster are possessed of a formal power and purity that is impressively mature." Her works "transcend the angst and uncertainty of the present period in art history, to continue and expand upon the ideas of purity and austerity that characterized modernism in an ongoing dialogue that make her work important and timelessly compelling."

AR
TIST'S STATEMENT

My early career in the theatre put me in good stead to search for an Art form which could encompass many of the same senses and emotions used as an actor.

I needed to create and there was sculpture, which was always a visual passion for me. My unconscious need to touch, to see, to communicate, finally came together for me in sculpture.

The medium of stone lives a life as a form in itself and is the most important force in my art. Because stone is so demanding and unforgiving, it provides the greatest challenge and warrants the greatest respect. Each finished piece represents love, pain and a need to create again. Other sculpting media are important as well. Using clay, which can ultimately be transformed into bronze, is a valuable and traditional discipline. The working of a clay piece is sensitive to the touch but is forgiving and extremely fulfilling in its creation. It has it's own beauty but more than that, it feeds my passion and allows me to translate more freely into stone.
